Crowns are a symbol of power, divinity, and sovereignty for those who rule and lead nations, such as kings, queens, emperors, empresses, etc. While some can be simple, others are more intricate. The first crowns were diadems, which are jeweled bands worn just above the eyebrows. In some traditions, as a symbol of their vast influence, stones and gems mined from across their empire would be added to the crowns to create not only a spectacular headpiece, but also to remind the people of the ruler's sovereignty.

The Crown Quilt Block is a variation of the traditional crown quilt block. It includes half square triangles and 4-patch piecing. The quilt block finishes at 6" square, meaning the quilt block, once incorporated into a quilt, will measure 6" x 6".
