Lazy Summer Quilt Camp 2026

Let me introduce you to a community-centered social media photo challenge that is starting July 1 and runs through July 31.
Lazy Summer Quilt Camp
What is Lazy Summer Quilt Camp?
Friendships formed in small, tight-knit hobby-based communities are some of the sweetest friendships I've experienced. I especially love the encouragement, guidance, and support that other creative small business owners share with each other.
I have been blessed to find other quilty small business owners and we've decided that this summer, we are going to lean into community and bring a little 2016 back to social media.
So, for the month of July we will be posting different parts of our quilting lives on social media and we absolutely want to invite you to the party.

Not sure what to expect? Here's a breakdown of each day:

I'll be updating each day with a link to my posts. Just click on the photo and you'll get to my Instagram post for that day.
Day 1: 5 things about me

The first day is all about introductions and a way to share your love of quilting and handiwork with the community.
Day 2: Most used quilt

Share the quilt that gets used every day. You probably already have a photo of it in your camera roll, especially if it is used every day. No need to make anything or take new photos. Share the photos you have!
Day 3: Texture for days

What's the first thing you do when you see a quilt in person? You touch it. Why? Because the texture of a quilt is incomparable. Show off some of the texture that you've already created in some of your quilts. You know, like the crinkle and puffs that are so commonly seen in finished quilts.
Day 4: Loved one's favorite

It's such an exhilarating feeling when you make a quilt for someone and it becomes their absolute favorite. On this day, share a photo of the quilt and the recipient or even just a photo of the quilt.
Day 5: Sewing along

Quilting is as much about community as it is about handiwork. Share a photo (or video) of a quilt you made with your quilting friends. Bonus, tag them in the post so they can also join in on the fun.
Day 6: Beautiful blues

Even though blue is not my favorite color (I'm a red gal), I have so many blue quilts and blue fabrics. I'd love to see the quilts you've made with blue fabric or even blue thread. Show off one of your beautiful blue quilts on Day 6.
Day 7: Biggest quilt

Whether it was made to go on a bed or to decorate a wall, share a photo of the biggest quilt you've made. This challenge doesn't require you to make any new quilts (its not called Lazy Summer Quilt Camp for nothing) so look in your photo roll for a quilt you've already made (or even look in your tagged photos on Facebook).
Day 8: Favorite block

With the abundance of quilt blocks available it can be difficult to choose a favorite. However, if you find yourself being drawn to a specific block, share a photo of it. The block could be one that you've made or an image of the block that you've found.
Day 9: Binding beauty

Binding is an integral part of quilting. It allows for any loose ends to be sewn together so the quilt doesn't unravel. On Day 9 it's the binding's time to shine: show off a photo of a binding that you loved creating.
Day 10: In the stars

The night sky has been an inspiration for creativity since the dawn of time. Have you created a quilt that includes some celestial body? Share a photo of it. If not, share a photo of a quilt block star, like Ohio Star, Sawtooth Star, Missouri Star, etc.
Day 11: Gorgeous greens

Nature is full of many shades of green as are many quilts. If you have made a quilt that features any shade of green, share a photo of it on Day 11.
Day 12: Scraps, beautiful scraps

What happens when you've got leftover fabric from other projects? If you're like me you find a way to sew with those scraps. Show off a photo of a scrappy quilt or quilted item you've made from scraps.
Day 13: Smallest quilt

Quilts don't always need to fit on a bed. Sometimes they are placemats, pot holders, or even coasters. Share a photo of your smallest quilt today!
Day 14: Pets and quilts

My cat is the quilt tester and loves to lay on my quilts in progress. Naturally, I've got lots of photos to share with her and a quilt. Share a photo of your pet, or your loved one's pet, with a quilt you've made.
Day 15: Purple pizzazz

Purple can be a tricky color to quilt with (hello, color bleeding), but I've found that the purple quilts are stunning. If you have made a quilt using purple fabric, show off a photo of it on Day 15.
Day 16: Something old

Share a photo of a family heirloom quilt or even the first quilt you've ever made. It's so fun to see how quilts have changed over the years.
Day 17: Unfinished objects

Sometimes quilting projects find themselves shelved, either because of life commitments or because you just need a break. Share a photo of an unfinished quilt that's been sitting on your shelf.
Day 18: On the wall

I love seeing the projects people are currently working on. It lights up my creativity seeing other people using their creativity. Show off a photo of the project you're currently working on for Day 18.
Day 19: Quilted wearables

Sometimes I don't have plans for the quilts I make and then they become the perfect medium for clothing. Share a photo of a piece of clothing you've made from either one of your quilts or a quilt you've gotten.
Day 20: Where the magic happens

Sewing is absolutely magical. I mean, have you thought about how you cut up fabric and sew it back together to create a gorgeous design? Share a photo of your quilting space. Also, it's okay if it's not super tidy: I know mine isn't.
Day 21: Citrus colors

Oranges, yellows, and greens create such lovely quilts. Show off a quilt you've made that incorporates these colors.
Day 22: Quilts with something to say

Whether you are expressing your thoughts on a particular subject or your quilt has words on it, share a photo of your quilt!
Day 23: Pretty shapes

Quilts are made up of many different kinds of shapes. Share a photo of a quilt you made (or would like to make) with shapes that make your heart flutter.
Day 24: Quilting detail

Whether you use a machine to quilt or quilt by hand, the quilting designs really make the quilt come alive. Show of your favorite quilting stitches on Day 24.
Day 25: Neutral, not boring

The color of the year is a neutral color. Sometimes neutral colors get a bad rep (like Millennial beige), but that doesn't mean that they have to be boring. Share a photo of a quilt you've made that incorporates a neutral color, but it is anything but boring.
Day 26: Party in the back

I rarely give my backing any thought, but I have made some quilts where the backing was so fun. Share a photo of your favorite quilt backing.
Day 27: By hand

I have hand quilted exactly one quilt and that may be enough for me. I love hand quilting smaller projects, but hand quilting anything bigger than a wall hanging is tough for me. So, whether you've sewn or quilted something by hand, show off those gorgeous stitches.
Day 28: Raving reds

Red is my absolute favorite color. It has been since I was able to distinguish colors. Red reminds me of love, passion, and fire. Share a photo of your quilt or quilted item that lets this color be the star of the show.
Day 29: 3D beauties

Whether you have made a quilt with 3D pieces or a sewn an item with quilted finishes, share a photo of any three-dimensional quilted piece you've made.
Day 30: Again and again

You know that one quilt pattern that you keep coming back to? The one you could make over and over again? Share a photo of the quilts you've made that use the same quilt pattern for Day 30.
Day 31: Stitching pretty

Lazy Summer Quilt Camp closing ceremony is all about the stitching. So, on this last day of camp, show off the stitching you're most proud of and remember why you started quilting and what you love the most about it.
